"We expect the U.S. administration to respect Canadian sovereignty," Prime Minister Mark Carney said.

Industry Minister Melanie Joly said the Canadian government will seek to recover money from General Motors Co. after the company’s decision to lay off 500 workers at a truck plant in Oshawa, Ontario.

The leaders of both countries have recently visited Beijing seeking to strengthen economic ties, as tensions with the United States rise.

Hockey Canada responded to the lack of equitable offerings in their new Hockey Canada Development Hub launch in British Columbia saying it is due to the new program being a pilot project.
