Gigantopithecus was the largest ape that ever lived, and it lived in Asia a long time ago. It could grow up to around 3 meters tall and weigh more than 300 kilograms, making it much bigger than modern gorillas. Even though it was huge, it was most likely a herbivore and ate plants, fruits, and a lot of bamboo. Scientists have only found its teeth and jawbones, but these show it had extremely strong jaws for chewing tough food. It lived in forests, and when the climate started to change and fores
